Hearing aides
If you know that you might need some hearing aides in order for your
hearing to improve, you may want to look into getting a device that
can significantly improve your hearing.
The best thing to do is first visit with your doctor. As you speak
with him, you may want to ask him about a number of different styles
of hearing aides that are available.
These might include:
• Completely in the canal – These hearing aides are custom
molded to fit deep in the ear canal. They have been known to improve
mild to moderate hearing loss in adults.
• In the canal – These hearing aides also fit in the canal,
but do not go as deep as the custom designed devices. They have also
been known to be successful in improving moderate hearing loss in adults.
• Behind the ear – These devices include a larger part that
nestles behind your ear and a smaller wire that goes into your ear canal.
These devices have been known to work very well. Likewise, they are
used not only for adults, but have deemed safe for people of all ages
– including children.
• Open – These are very small behind-the-ear-style devices.
Sound travels from the instrument through a small tube or wire to a
tiny dome or speaker in the ear canal. They leave the ear mostly open.
Your doctor should be able to help you figure out which of these hearing
aides will work best for you.
