Hearing aids
Even though hearing aids are advertised to be in one way or another
better than their competitors, it is important to remember they all
have a few things in common:
• Microphone – This is the part of the hearing aids programmed
to pick up the sound around it.
• An amplifier – The amplifier increases the volume of the
sound. The wearer will hear the sound louder than it actually is because
of the amplifier.
• A speaker – The speaker sends the sound into your ear.
Without the speaker, the rest of the device would be pretty much useless.
• A battery – The battery provides power to the electronic
parts. These batteries are small, but need to be powerful in order to
make sure they stay reliable.
Knowing that all hearing aids include these features should help in
the selection process. Even though there are going to be other features
that people will talk about, it is important to remember that these
four features are by far the most important.
