Hearing aids FAQs
I don’t want my hearing aid to look bulky. Can this be
avoided?
There are many hearing aids that are manufactured today that are virtually
unnoticeable to everyone except you and your doctor. It is vitally important
that you are happy with the hearing aid that you get. While there are
some bigger hearing aids, most people are able to get the smaller ones.
It is important to discuss this with your doctor.
What can I do to protect my hearing?
There are a number of things you can do, but perhaps the most important
thing to do is simply use common sense. There are many people who go
to loud concerts, work with loud machinery and shoot guns without proper
hearing protection. This is a dangerous thing to do and often comes
to affect people’s hearing later in life. Use earplugs.
How should I store my hearing aid batteries?
If you have batteries that go to your hearing aid in your pocket or
your purse and they are out of their original packaging, you should
remove them immediately. It is vitally important that the integrity
of the batteries not be compromised or they may not work as well. Even
worse, if the metal in your pocket rubs against the metal batteries,
leaks and other damage could occur.
